Research

Caribbean Roots cannot undertake genealogical or historical research but will provide guidance through its Frequently Asked Questions pages. If you need someone to carry out research on your behalf you will need to contact the appropriate archive who may do research for a fee or direct you to local professional researchers.

The National Archives in Kew carries out research for a fee of £60 per hour and maintains a list of professional researchers, many of whom will visit other archives in London. Click here to find out more.

Some Caribbean researchers are listed on the Candoo website.

You can also ask for historical advice or contact others researching the countries and surnames you are interested in using discussion groups and surname lists. Please note that many of these are public groups and your email address may get into the public domain and be used by Spammers.
